name confusion
Motty is a clown, that is a fact we establish a while back. We were discussing the yartzeit of the grandfather for whom he was named. We told him how lucky he was to be named after someone so special. With a serious face he said "first Mordechai Steinberg was named then me.
Menachem is just adorable!!!!!!!!!!
Whew! We got lots of catching up to do! Menachem is this darling little thing with loads of personality. He is in love with anything he can do "wee-wee" with (note: anything that moves) be it a car, a toy, or being swung in the air he shouts "weeeee". So cute! Another couple of favorites are "knock, knock" and "peek, peek".
We were all sitting at the table and eating, while Menachem was playing with some toys on the floor. He climbed up on a kiddie chair and was suddenly chatting with all of us. He was quite proud to be the same height and join us in conversation. Like Motty kept saying "di mechutan is du!"
Last week, on shabbos afternoon we went out in front of our house to take a little walk. Menachem felt overjoyed with his freedom and proceeded to run halfway down the block where he found some friend to play with. We are pretty impressed with our fairly new walker! Go Menachem!!!

Totty and me time
This Sunday was special because both Motty and Miri got to spend some alone time with their Totty.
The day started with Miri going for breakfast with Chaim. She LOVES doing breakfast like that.
Motty got to go to prospect park and go biking all the way up that tremendous hill, he did the full three miles, enjoying every minute of the zooming ride down. Our little boy sure is growing, he did the bike route just like Totty!

the funny things that kids say
At the Wallk house renovations are underway, the bedrooms in which we always sleep when we visit is getting redone. Yay! We went to take a peek at the almost completed room when we were there. Miri's favorite part was the window curtains, she was admiring the flowered print when she turned to me and said "Mommy, I love those skirts!"
Motty was giving driving directions as usual since has the roads down pat better than our GPS, we were going to the park to play with his boat and he says "stick to the service roads today don't take the highway." we were "sticking" our seats from laughter.
Menachem was the cutest thing in shul on Rosh Hashana, he was enjoying the attention he got when he made noise so he kept right at it. They were taking a long time to start so he was busy kissing my machzir and blabbing. I covered his mouth once when he was talking, it tickled, so he kept trying to put his mouth into the palm of my hand to do it again. When they finally blew the shofar he was just as loud saying "too too!"

Summer Fun!
The summer flew so fast. I guess time flies when having fun! Boruch Hashem we had a fantastic season this summer. We got to spend lots of quality time together, we even were lucky enough to have an exclusive overnight trip with our first class Zeidy and Bobby Wallk!! That was a trip to remember! Kutztown, PA was really amazing, the fair was lots of fun. The fireworks were spectacular. Motty was sitting on the hood of the car waiting for them to begin but as soon as the first one exploded in the air, he zoomed down faster than a fireman going down the pole, the noise frightened him and menachem. Also he was not so sure that it was not coming down on our heads, he enjoyed them from the car. The next day we rode the Straussburg railroad yet again... The kids had a huge heaping serving of undivided attention from their grandparents and memories that will last and last... We hope to invite them to join us next summer again!!
Each Sunday we tried to do something exciting, we went to the Intrepid (twice, once with the Bornstein's and once with the Paluch's), Whitepost farm's, we visited a firehouse, we went on an ABC trip, Brooklyn Bridge park water lab etc.
The kids really enjoyed their respective slumber parties, thank you Chaim and Chummy for hosting the boys!
Motty really loves his painting birthday party, thanks to Ari R., Motty R., and Yanky T. for coming. His highlight was his really cool remote control warship, that we took to prospect park, to the pond to play with. It really goes far and fast, it lights up and all.
We took our family vacation to Philadelphia this summer. Boy was that fun. We visited an old penitentiary, that was very interesting to Motty. The next day was loads of fun at the Aquarium in Camden, NJ. We then had a BBQ on Lemon Hill. And wrapped up our fun day with night swimming!! We went to the Franklin Institute on Tuesday it was a fascinating place the kids loved the seeing their totty on the sky bike, walking through the heart and seeing the wall light up when lots of cellphone are in use next to it...
Menachem was glad to be back home and roam free!!!

Happy Birthday Motty and Menachem!!!!!!! We can't believe you both have grown so much already b"h! .
Motty is already a big boy that can read and learn chumash. He is on his way to first grade hurrah!
One year and look at our little Menachem, not such a baby anymore. He's got a mind of his own,an infectious smile, while he worms his darling little way into everyone's hearts.

never be jealous!
Miri was at a friends, Menachem was asleep, Motty had his parents attenton to himself for a change. He was reveling in the quiet and enjoying his talking without beiing interrupted. He got an ice cream cone. He said clean up the mess before Miri comes home so she should not have Lo Sachmod.
boo boo
Miri has a boo boo on her finger that was bothering her even after she had a kiss and a hug for it. So she asked me if she can have a nosh to make it feel better, I asked how can that make it all better? Without missing a beat she answered" In Bobby's house it worked for my boo boo."

she really wanted to!
Miri had a end of the year party with loads of candy and junk... There was one particular cool lollypop that Motty wanted to have from the bag. Miri was saving it for another day. I then see Motty walking around with it in his mouth. I asked why he had
It? He responded that" Miri wanted to be mevater so she can have a large piece of the livyasan."

arggg! pirates!

The whole gang was out for a wonderful adventure on Thursday. We started with the excitement of cousins playing musical cars. Our car had Bobby, the Landaus', Miri and Laya'la Bornstein. Then it was off to be pirates!! We arrived at the Jersey shore pirates at 12:15 got dressed up and faces painted. All mateys boarded the pirate ship after learning some pirate lingo. Ahoy! The girls were a bit afraid of course, they were holding hands and watching timidly until they saw it was all fun and games. We fished a bottle with a message in it out of the water, had a fight with great water canons (so cool) against an enemy ship pirate pete, and last but not least Motty's favorite part we found a treasure out at sea!! He is still looking for the perfect place to hide his treasures (for a short time it was under his pillow but he thinks that is a no brainer). Ayi ayi.

these kids grow waaaay too fast B"H
Summer is slowly creeping up on us. It is amazing how much each child has grown over the school year K"H it is fascinating to see Motty having started the year barely knowing the alef beis, and now he is already able to learn Chumash a little. Or be the tehillimn chazzan at shul. Miri was a real baby in September and by now she has grown and matured into this big girl who you can have adorable conversations with.
Menachem is like a cat that stuck up a tree when he stands up in his crib. He is afraid to let go and fall down to sit so he gets very nervous and yells for help. Another tooth is on it's way B"H. His hair is getting pretty curly now due to the humidity or maybe it's just growing longer, either way he fits right in the family :)

He's gotta be mine!
Motty was supposed to choose a punishment for something last week. After much deliberation he came up with the perfect one "don't let me go to yeshiva tomorrow."
two at a time!
Boruch Hashem two pearly whites have finally emerged from our little menachem. His smile now seems double as cute and infectious! Menachem the friendly snuggle bug loves showing em off! He sits and plays on the floor and every time you look at him he charms everyone with a huge smile, now plus two perfect little teeth. Now we are desperately waiting with a sometimes very kvetchy baby (at 3AM) for some more.

I miss my tzumi!
Miri is at the stage when we say good bye to her trusty pacifier. She was in bed tonight when she said "I miss my tzumi" so Chaim told her "you do but on the other hand, you are such a big girl without it." puzzled she lifted her left hand and asked "this hand?"

excuse me
Miri and a friend were playing one day after school and i was eavesdropping from the other room enjoying the funny way four year olds converse. I heard her friend burp. Miri asked "who does that? you? Motty?" and then went on to explain to her friend, "when my totty does that he always asks who does that and he says it was Miri, or Motty..."
pesach stories
Miri is so happy her morah is almost coming back from maternity leave, before she had a baby she sang all of the pesach songs on a CD so that if the substitute doesn't know them she can teach it to the children. I asked Miri if she also has a CD with the story of pesach. She looked at me like I was from mars " morah doesn't know the story yet, cuz she was not in school before pesach!"

Riddle of the week
Someone came to visit Motty's class this morning and ask if he can stay for the day. The boys giggled, he then asked "who was a big tzaddik that went to learn alef beis in cheder with boys your age even if he was much older than them?" he was of course referring to Rebbi Akiva, not thinking they didn't learn the story yet. Motty piped up "I know Reb Efraim!"

happy birthday
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIRI!!!!!!!!!!
She had this adorable birthday party today at school. She's been waiting for months for her turn to be "the birthday girl" and now it's finally here. Miri loved the planning...choosing party bags and favors, nosh etc. making #4 cookies and cupcakes...the whole works! She keeps saying I am not REALLY four so i can still________ (anything she thinks is not so grown up yet, that she wants to get away with still.) She was loving all that attention and relishing every second of her special day until bed time:)
